Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social

Spread out a blanket on the Cappon House lawn and picnic with your family and we will provide the dessert! Free ice cream, games, music, crafts, and family-friendly tours of the Cappon House make this annual event a treat for the entire family! We are proud to offer free admission each year in celebration of our community.

Cappon House

The historic Cappon House was the home of Holland’s first mayor and local tannery proprietor, Isaac Cappon. Built in 1874, it is now partially restored to its appearance in 1900. Visitors to the Cappon House step back in time, immersing themselves in the stories of Isaac Cappon and his large family.

Admission
$5.00 per person; Holland Museum members are free. Paid admission to the Cappon House gains access to the Settlers House as well.

Hours
Open seasonally from mid-May-September on Fridays and Saturdays only with guided tours offered every hour. The first tour of the day begins at 11:00 a.m. and the last at 4:00 p.m.

Memorial Day
In celebration of Memorial Day, we are open Sunday, May 27 from Noon to 4:00 p.m. Closed Memorial Day.

Blue Star Museum
We are a Blue Star Museum and offer free admission to active military and their families from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day Weekend.

Lest we forget…Holland’s Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients…
We are honored that Holland, Michigan is home to four Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients; one of only two cities in the country in which this is the case. The Medal of Honor is the most prestigious military decoration that can be awarded to a U.S. Military personnel who have distinguished themselves by acts of valor. Generally, the Medal of Honor is presented by the President of the United States, on behalf of Congress.
