Donald Scholten

HM-16001_ww2_flyer_001-edgeToEdgeA harsh bite crept through the air when Donald Scholten, a young soldier from Holland, Mi, escaped a Nazi prison camp just outside of Nuremburg. In his flight to freedom, Scholten made his way to a German military warehouse that had fallen into allied hands.

Safe, Scholten grabbed this Nazi cap and flight suit to keep warm and prepare for his journey back to his troop. Experience Scholten’s story and the local impact of WWII on the home front at the Holland Museum’s yearlong exhibit: For the Future Peace.

For the Future Peace is now open during the Museum’s regular operating hours.
