Hands-On Invention Learning
Spark!Lab is the brainchild of the Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation in the Smithsonian Institution. The exhibit will allow children and families to create, collaborate, explore, test, experiment, problem solve and invent. Activities include traditional science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), with art, history and creativity. The hands-on activities provides visitors with opportunities to explore the invention process and their own inventiveness; and demonstrate the central role that invention plays in American history and today.
A world in which everyone is inventive and inspired to contribute to innovation.
To engage, educate, and empower the public to participate in technological, economic, and social change.
What Will Spark!Lab Bring to Holland?
Holland’s history is full of innovators, entrepreneurs, and inventors. There is much to be learned from our past successes and to continue to build on them for the future. Ask any educator about STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) or STEAM when you add art (history and creativity), and they will explain that there are skills every child should learn to be prepared for the future. Spark!Lab is an ideal fit for the Holland Museum because it showcases Holland’s history of innovation and invention, but also demonstrates how it can be part of Michigan’s future as well.
The experiences experienced through Spark!Lab™ empowers kids to develop
the skills and confidence they need to succeed today and in the future.
