Following LEDA’s Footsteps: Access and Advocacy in Action

Following in LEDA's Footsteps: Access, Advocacy, and Action exhibition on display August 9-December 1, 2024

“Following in LEDA’s Footsteps: Access and Advocacy in Action” was curated and produced by the Holland Museum 2024 Summer Internship Council and is on display from August 9, 2023 through December 1, 2024.

The Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance (LEDA) was an organization that prided itself on establishing a welcome and inclusive environment for people of all ages and backgrounds in the Ottawa County area for over 28 years. Although the organization has unfortunately closed, their legacy has not ended, and it is important to remember LEDA’s impact on our community.

This exhibition, curated by our 2024 Summer Intern Council, celebrates LEDA’s work and the progress through recently acquired newspaper articles, organizational programs, and photographs. Through interactive activities, this exhibition will hopefully encourage the museum’s guests to carry on the precedents that LEDA established.

2024 Summer Intern Council Presentation

This presentation took place on Thursday, August 8 2024 at the Holland Museum for the opening celebration of this exhibit. The Summer Intern Council, made up of nine young professionals who developed the exhibit, Following in LEDA’s Footsteps: Access and Advocacy in Action under the mentorship of Museum staff, presented their work. In addition to sharing the creative process for the exhibit, interns will be talking about their independent projects. Visit the event page for more information.
