American Foursquare-1
This is a very common house type in the Midwest. American Foursquares are popular farm houses. They get their name because of the shape of the house - usually with four rooms on each floor. You can easily spot a Foursquare because it will have dormers on each side of the roof. (Dormer - little roofettes on the roof) In 1987, Mrs. J (who was widowed) and Bessie Bolhuis are listed as residents according to the city directory. Bessie was a dressmaker.
